Saturday morning marks the annual kill myself softly and wish I didn’t smoke event that I participate in every year, also known as the Komen Race for the Cure. There is something seriously wrong with smoking a cigarette as you drive to a 5k race that is raising money for cancer, but I do it every year. My goal this year is to not still be drunk from the night before nor not have a hang over while running for the first time. It seems easy to accomplish, but for some reason every year I say this and every year – FAIL.
If I am to reach my goal this year, it means I will not be watching Top Gun at Laumeier, which means I will be deprived of hearing this song over, and over, and over… blaring from an outdoor sound system. That song and something about a dead Goose are the only two things I can presently recall from that movie so there is little consolation that I will miss this memory refresher - not even a new pair of shoes will suffice.
As I am returning to the theaters for my third screening of Sex and the City with girlfriends, I will probably be lit on cosmos and shaking it at Pepper Lounge Saturday night… gotta thank those running legs, don’t I? It’s Top 40 and Hip Hop by Hugh Tyson that night – but – I can always listen to this on the way down and do this since I won’t be driving.

I was laughing at your smoking comment. I used to drive to my workout while smoking and drinking a diet Pepsi. Then go to Taco Bell for a soft taco afterward. What was I thinking?

I’m doing nothing. Being a couch potato, surfing the net and considering setting up a Baileys drip for myself so I don’t even need to pick up the glass. Sheer bliss.
