Being that Melody is still out and not talking to any of you I’ve decided to step up and write a little post. [Hopefully I won't destroy her archives like I did mine over at withgrace[dot]net…]
Melody wanted me to write something with a local feel. Local? No problem. Then I got to thinking, I’m not from Saint Louis. Haven’t even lived here a year and with a crazy schedule working for the city PD, she wanted me to write something local. Sure.
Well kids, are you in luck! Much to the prodding of some Twitter friends I made a delicious discovery today. A discovery that I’m sure you Saint Louisans have been going to for years…
Ted. Drewes.

It is shut-your-dirty-mouth-good.
I ordered a medium rootbeer float. By first sip I knew I should have ordered a large. It was gone in a matter of minutes. [Could you blame me on a hot day like today?]
Speaking of hot. I should be annoyed at my boss. He failed to mention how hot it gets during the summertime. Similar to Louisville, KY… [where I'm from] right-o.
So, STL peeps, I leave you with a challenge! [oh goodie!] Tell me what things I must see and do now that I reside in the Lou! I start dayshift at the end of August so I’ll finally get to have a life. [Is this a good time to mention I've yet to see a Cardinals game? I hear this is a requirement to live in Saint Louis, ha!]
Be well and stay cool!
-Michele

From the photo I can tell you went to the Chippewa location. Am I right? Next, get a concrete at the S. Grand location. It’s smaller and not as crowded since it’s more tucked away on the south side.
Anyway, like I said on Twitter, next you need to check out Crown Candy Kitchen for a Butterscotch Malted (my recommendation, anyway). The Royale on S. Kingshighway is a nice watering hole, Mangia on S. Grand is fun for the southside freakshow (and let’s not forget CBGB)… uh, I could go on and on about barbecue and pizza, too, but I should probably let you catch up first. Oh, and get yourself signed up over at The Circuit: http://circuit.lofistl.com (great for local social networking aside from Twitter or Facebook).

Mucho thanks!
[Yes, that was at the Chippewa location - I didn't want to drive far. Tee hee. I promise I'll check out the S. Grand location!]

I was coming on to tell you about crown candy kitchen, as well. . . though if you go, you need to get a BLT in addition to the ice cream. yes, it’s a ton of food. but it is absolutely necessary to order both.
any of the ethnic restaurants along south grand are a hit. Two of my favorites are Cafe Natasha and Pho Grand. There’s also a new gelato place right next door to Pho Grand.
my favorite dive bar for having beers and throwing some darts is The Brick, on Broadway (. . . is that right?. . . ) down south by the Brewery
The Hill is where to go for Italian. . . Citizen Kane’s for a fancier night out with perfect steaks. . .
if you’re close to the Chippewa Ted Drewes, you should also check out Aya Sofia and Stellina Pasta. Those are right there. As is Donut Drive In, best donuts in the city.
