For someone who refuses to ever (like never, ever) drive a brand new vehicle, who is still in the habit of locking their computer (even when I am at home) a full eight months after leaving a job where I had to and who is uber irritated that they added more lemon-lime flavor to Diet 7-Up (it seriously tastes like a pixie stick now) lifestyle changes obviously don’t come easily. It took almost two years for me to finally accept that I needed a Mac and actually go for it. When they told me at a previous job that they were planning to replace my little Dell with a Mac I actually begged them not to… and asked if I could buy my old PC laptop – it was that bad.
I am now in love with my little Mac – I named her Alice and called The Mister to announce the newest edition to our family. I read off her specs and talked about her silver-matte casing like it was a birth announcement, and was beaming with pride. I hadn’t even set the thing up and I knew how awesome this puppy would be. Alice and I have been hanging out for a week now and though I haven’t quite gotten over the learning curve (I am like this.close), I am a firm believer that once you go Mac you never go back.
Now if you’ll excuse me, Alice and I are going to go frolic in a field or something nice like that.

I looooove my Macbook! I’ve had it for 4 years now and it runs faster newer pcs. My only complaint (and this is not Mac’s fault!) is that the software I use with my insulin pump doesn’t work on Macs, so whenever I upload and log information, I have to do it from a PC. Totally annoying! But like I said, not my Mac’s fault.
I should also say that I freaking HATE the PC commercial where the Lauren girl says she “must not be cool enough” to have a Mac or something. Dude, seriously? That’s petty, yo!

I actually had a MAC Plus many years ago, and it was cool. Then I got into the PC world out of necessity and haven’t had a Mac since. However, if I wasn’t using it for work, I’d be inclined to go for a Macbook. After all, I LOVE my iPod Classic 160GB. I’d love the computer, too, right?
P.S. I’ve never named a computer.

I’ve never been a Mac owner (a hush falls over the crowd..), well NOT YET, anyway. But, congrats on the new addition! (;

Why did you need a Mac? You don’t go into any detail there.
The fact is that real work is done with a PC and anything that a Mac can do a PC can do. The same cannot be said the other way around. So perhaps what you were really trying to get through to us by saying that you finally convinced yourself that you needed a Mac is that you finally caved into the marketing and the image.
Which is perfectly understandable. I mean, I certainly don’t blame you for it. I have a Macbook Air myself. But don’t fool yourself into thinking that you actually needed it for something important.

Just loved that little bit. Yeah, getting my first mac a few years back was like getting a new baby in the house. More than a toy, it became an important member of the family. Now the MacBook Pro has usurped it’s place in the household. Most of the serious web work is done on it.
Enjoy. Welcome to the club.

Hope you picked some daisies as you and Alice ran through the fields. Change is good.
