New Kid on the Block: Paste

If I have my way I’ll never have to make a trek past the city limits to buy supplies ever again. Katie Shanahan has come to the rescue with her newest creation, Paste, a craft supply store serving the metro set.  Katie originally hails from Colorado, but has been here in River City for about three years – first in South City, now in Soulard.

Katie is passionate about community building and hopes her store provides a venue for local folks to get to know each other a little better and stretch their creative limits. “Part of what I love about Soulard is its small town feel. I want the shop to feel that way too. I hope to know my customers by name – know their kid’s and dog’s name too.”

Paste will stock a variety of items for crafters of all types in addition to a small stash of fine art supplies. Yarn, paint, ink, buttons, ribbons, jewelry making and mixed media supplies will fill the shelves. “I tried to steer away from cutesy and pick items that were a little more fun and funky.” Special orders are yours just for the asking. Katie wants the shop’s future growth to be a collaborative effort with her customers. Her plans include expanding into the storage area next door around January of next year; the additional space will provide an area for classes and socializing.

Katie’s doors open on Saturday, June 27th and it’s sure to be an exciting opening with live demonstrations from local crafters all weekend long. This girl’s got heart, 25% of the proceeds from opening weekend will go to The Soulard School.  I know I plan to spend some time starry-eyed and dreaming up my next project at Paste – hope to see you there!

Looks like a pretty cool shop – are they in anyway affiliated with Paste Magazine? They have the same logo and name… almost identical
