About Girl’s Guide

Girl’s Guide to the Galaxy isn’t your mother’s lifestyle blog. We are a community of midwestern ladies with edge, sass, and style. If you are looking for a blog to tell you what and how to be perfect, you have reached this blog in error; please learn to use Google better.

We are ladies from all walks of life and all backgrounds, and we invite you to share with us in the trials and tribulations of womanhood. We are mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and rock star bloggers (if only in our own minds), but first and foremost we are all girls. And Girl’s Guide is our little corner online.

Meet The Girl’s Guide Editors…

Melody Meiners – Founder & Managing Editor

Email: melody@girlsguidetothegalaxy.com

Melody is the mother of one Boggie and the wife to one Mister. By day she is a freelance writer and interactive media strategist, and by night she is a partner and blogger at STLFamilyLife.com and on her personal blog, MrsSmartyPants.com.

Melody grew up in a far-flung suburb of St. Louis listening to David Bowie (and will bet a dollar she is the biggest fan evah!) and grunge rock; dying her hair blue and wearing flannel for a stint in high school, and leaving soccer practice to shop at the Gap during another. Such were the ’90′s. During college she was a DJ because she is the only one in her family with ZERO musical talent and, thus, couldn’t be in a band. Instead, she got paid to play CD’s made by people far more talented than she, and worked on her college paper as the Entertainment Editor interviewing said people.

Pamela Raymond – Assistant Managing Editor, and Writer Relations

Email: raymondcreative@yahoo.com

Pamela is a New Orleans native therefore bleeds hot sauce, black & gold, and gumbo – in no particular order. As the owner of The Raymond Experience, a little firm that produces events and does public relations, Pamela has an uncanny knack for showing up at networking events one night, fashion shows on another or lunching and laughing with the top magazine editors and publishers at new and old hot spots in St. Louis.

Pamela uses her M.B.A from Maryville University for good, not for evil, and enjoys relaying the business end of a situation to her readers. She moonlights as the  Business Commentary eXaminer for St. Louis, she also writes XXRay Vision, a column about love and relationships, for ALIVE Magazine’s blog posse.

Jenna Petroff – Editor-at-Large

Email: jennapetroff@gmail.com

Working by day in an industry where hipster spokespeople are usually relegated to iconic advertising, Jenna is known for her sass, class and big ole… pair of 4-inch stilettos. With degrees in Communications and Psychology, she was given the nickname “The Counselor” for her outspoken, blunt, and usually dead-on advice and opinions.

A self-proclaimed super mom, accessories addict and insomniac, she also serves on several local charitable and industry boards and committees, is an oft-requested speaker at corporate events, conferences and webinars, a former Vice-President of the PTO and a regular on the black-tie circuit.

On her downtime, this single mama can usually be found yelling from the sidelines at one of her son’s soccer, basketball or baseball games, scouring stores for retro finds, rooting for her beloved St. Louis Cardinals, organizing her accessories collections, hitting the town with friends, checking her Twitter feed, or lip-syncing to Journey.

Jenna is also a lover of words and animals, a connoisseur of sarcasm and an aficionado of cheese, wine and vodka… usually in that order. She claims that she isn’t a total control freak. Just a slight one.
